Where To Find Biometric Time Clocks

As it turns out, you can get them at Staples for under $1000

http://news.discovery.com/tech/are-biometric-time-clocks-legal.html

Biometric time clocks have gone beyond the realm of expensive Homeland Security-style systems and into the realm of small business. For less than $600, a company can get a time clock that reads fingerprints in order to prove employee attendance. Unlike older timekeeping methods that were subject to timecard fraud (with people essentially clocking in for their friends) biometric timeclocks use fingerprints or retina scanning to prove that a person is indeed present.  These devices are smaller than the average office telephone and can be mounted on walls or desks near access points so people can easily check in and out. Better yet, these new biometric timeclocks are compatible with QuickBooks and other accounting software, so they can be used by mom-and-pop shops that would otherwise be doing their payroll on the honor system. Getting a biometric timeclock is a perfect way to save time, avoid adding up old-fashioned punched clock data, and preventing buddy punching on behalf of chronically late employees.

Notes and Special Information

Special note: Different states may regulate the type of biometric timeclocks that can be used and the privacy implications associated with them.
